JOHN XIAOYI QUAN (MR.) joined AWA as Chief Executive Officer on 18th January, 2017. He has 16 years of Airline Experience having held various positions within Hainan Airlines and its conglomerate. His last post was MD of Air Guilin. He was also directly in charge of the Tourism Development Department of Air Guilin.
He has a rich experience in Airline Commercial as well as Ground Handling Services.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Chief Operations Officer
SAMUEL THOMPSON (CAPT) is the Chief Operations Officer of Africa World Airlines, a positon he has held for the past 1 year and 7 months. Prior to his appointment, Captain Samuel Thompson was the Chief Executive Officer/Accountable Manager of Royal-GH Airline Company which took over Fly 540 Ghana Ltd. He was also with Fly 540 Ghana where he held various positions such as Captain, Director of Flight Operations and the Accountable Manager.
Captain Thompson has over 30 years of flying experience in various aircraft types e.g. Embraer 170, Boeing 737NG, DC10, DC 9, Fokker F-28 and PA28/PA34.
At AWA, Captain Thompson’s key responsibility is to oversee the operations section; having directly under his purview, Flight Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Ground Handling.
In addition, Captain Thompson is responsible for Government and other stakeholder relations.

Mr. He Yali was appointed to the board of Africa World Airlines in 2012. He is the remote Chief Finance Officer of Africa World Airlines and the Country Manager of CADFUND in Ghana. Prior to this role, he was a Research Analyst with Venture Capital and Finance in China. He also worked with the Ministry of Science & Technology in China (2006) before joining China Development Bank in 2007.
Mr. He holds MBA from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Business Administration from the Hebei University of Technology
